"Cool Green
Biz" Cool Cities Partners with Roanoke Regional Chamber
of Commerce to recognize Green Businesses
Roanoke Valley
Cool Cities Coalition and the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce
are collaborating on a green business certification program for
Chamber members who meet certain criteria. The name of the program
is "Cool Green Biz", signifying that "Green" is the new "Cool", and
that the Roanoke business community is on the program! The
checklist for certification was developed by Cool Cities, and we are
also responsible for evaluating the applications. The
Chamber has program documents on their web site (Chamber Cool Green Biz page ). The certification process is open to all Chamber members. The
Chamber will issue attractive window stickers for qualifying
businesses, and give recognition to certified companies through
their web site and publications.

How Does Your
Business Stack Up? Try the Cool Cities Green Business
Checklist
If you'd like to rate your
own business or organization, you can download the Cool Cities Green
Business Checklist. This self-test document does not lead to
any official certification (if you want that, we recommend you check
out the Chamber of Commerce program above). The items on this
checklist are nearly identical to those used in the Chamber
program.
Read the statement, then answer "YES" if
you're in compliance, "NO" if you're not. Those with
highlighted background are considered to be the bare essentials -
make sure you're in compliance with these, then see how many more
items you can answer "YES" to.
Under the "Recent" column,
indicate if you have recently implemented this item (or if you are
doing the checklist for a second time, if you implemented it since
your last review). In the "Future" column, indicate those
items you plan to implement. These last two columns are
provided to help you track your progress toward more sustainable
business practices.
This checklist is in two
formats:
